Black Friday

What fools we mortals be.

The day after Thanksgiving is the day when fools rush in to the Walmart mania of the Christmas season.  We don’t care who we trample, as long as we get to that super-sale item that we must absolutely have.

What would Jesus do?  After all, it IS his birthday bash we are preparing to celebrate.

Only one day before, Thanksgiving, we were engorging ourselves, stuffing ourselves,  more dutifully and energetically than was the turkey that we were consuming.  We were counting our blessings, enjoying the wonderful company of our families, grateful for all that we have.  So, the next day, instead of resting, we pile out to the stores to get more, no matter what.

Only one day before, on Thanksgiving, we were remembering those days gone by when the Pilgrims, the original illegal aliens, were saved by the local native population.  These “Indians”  saved the Pilgrims from starvation.  The Pilgrims showed their everlasting gratitude.  They returned the favor to the locals…they slaughtered them.  This Christian tradition is echoed today on Black Friday.  I’ll get mine, no matter what.  If Jesus were alive today, he would be rolling over in his grave.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, JESUS
